CATALYTIC DEHYDROGENATION OF TETRAHYDROTHIOPHENE TO THIOPHENE - 2.

Abstract

During the kinetic analysis of the catalytic dehydrogenation of THT it was found that from the hydrogen and thiophene formed, only the latter adsorbs on the surface of the catalyst. The thiophene adsorption vigorously decreased the number of the active sites of the catalyst, hence the dehydrogenation slowed down, which was proved by the substantial decrease of the yield. The part-processes of the dehydrogenation, the rate equation describing the reaction and the suitable kinetic equations were also established.
