The various physical properties of rapidly quenched alloys are highly sensitive to changes in composition and to the conditions of processing. The influence of these factors on the thermal, magnetic and mechanical properties of iron-based transition-metal boron glassy ribbons is described. Selected examples of the role of alloying and processing in various applications (heating elements, sensors and transformers) are given.
