Abstract

Capillary electrophoresis (CE) has recently been considered ″the trend″ in analytical chemistry. In this paper the authors apply theoretical considerations to the growth of CE, attempting to identify (on the logistic curve) the actual stage of its development and the rates of its growth. In previous studies the authors have mainly used the number of published journal papers as items refelcting the growth of instrumental analytical techniques. In the present study they extend the base of countable items to include citations to seminal papers on CE and keywords (descriptors) on CE registered in literature databases.
