Abstract

Quadrupole mass spectrometers can be favorably used for the multi-component analysis of various samples e. g. materials of biological and industrial origin. After the construction of respiratory and blood gas analyzers there have been successful experiments with mass spectrometers applied to fermentation research. The exhaust gases of fermentors were studied first, but the measurement of the gases dissolved in the broth provides more information. Such measurements can be carried out with membrane inlets.
