Abstract

The present state of knowledge of the biochemical mechanism of platelet activation (adhesion, shape change, microspike formation, aggregation, release reaction, clot retraction) and the involvement of contractile proteins is presented. The working hypothesis on the contractile mechanism of platelet activation is explained.
