Abstract

Bi-directional stagnant flow was detected in the parenchymal splenic veins in a dog with isolated splenic torsion by colour and pulsed wave Doppler ultrasound techniques. The passive movement of the stagnating blood due to the respiratory movements probably caused this abnormal Doppler spectrum in the parenchymal splenic veins.
