Batch heteroazeotropic rectification under continuous entrainer feeding: I. feasibility studies

Abstract

The feasibility of the heteroazeotropic distillation in a batch rectifier with batch addition and continuous feeding of the entrainer is studied. The feasibility method is based on the analysis of the map of the possible overall liquid composition (mole fraction) profiles containing also the heterogeneous liquid boiling envelope with the tie-lines. The calculation results are presented for the separation of a low relative volatility mixture (dichloro-methane-acetone + water as heterogeneous entrainer), a maximum (water-ethylenediaminebenzene) and a minimum (isopropanol-water + benzene) azeotrope.
