Auger width of metastable states in antiprotonic helium

Abstract

Auger decay probabilities of metastable states in antiprotonic helium are derived using a minimal extension of the existing bound-state wave functions to account for the electron continuum. Calculations were performed for the Born-Oppenheimer wave functions of Shimamura [Phys. Rev. A 46, 3776 (1992)] and the variational wave functions of Korobov [Phys. Rev. A 54, 1749 (1996)]. Our results suggest that the overall accuracy of the Auger widths calculated from the presently available bound-state wave functions is not sufficient.
