Authors have examined the applicability of Vitacel® samples (milled cellulose) of different labels during the direct tabletting. As comparative solid binding material Avicel® PH 101 microcrystallic cellulose, as model active ingredients phenobarbital and piridinolcarbamate have been used. It turned out, that in the case of active ingredients of good as well as of bad compressability the application of mixtures of Vitacels (aa 10%) of different morphological characteristics is recommended. First of all the mixture of Vitacel products labelled as M 80 and A 300 with corn starch (20%) is suggested for this purpose. Authors call attention to the good yield characteristic of Vitacel A 300, contributing to the better compressability of the mixture of powders to be tabletted occasionally.
