Application of TLC-FAB mass spectrometry in metabolism research

Abstract

The new, off line powerful combination of TLC with its simplicity, tandem mass spectrometry (MS-MS) with its specificity, and digital autoradiography (DAR) with its high sensitivity and suitability for quantitation was used as a fast screening method for separation and structure identification of metabolites of deramciclane (a new anxiolytic compound). The preferred ionisation technique for mass spectrometry (MS) when combined with TLC is fast-atom bombardment (FAB).
