Application of OPLC-DAR and HPLC-RD techniques in metabolite research

Abstract

Metabolite research in drug development is a complex analytical problem. Several chromatographic methods are used after sample extraction for the isolation and purification of metabolites from different biological matrices. This paper summarizes the combined use of overpressured layer chromatography with digital autoradiography (OPLC-DAR) and HPLC with radioactivity detection (HPLC-RD) for qualitative and quantitative determination of metabolites, depending on the complexity and radioactivity content of the matrix investigated.
