Recently it was suggested that an induced fission phenomenon may be responsible for the anomalous small angle elastic scattering on 238U. Our experiment indicates that direct processes of the type (n, fn′) with an n′ angular distribution peaked at small angles probably do not exist at least for 14.7 MeV neutrons.
