Abstract

Results of the separation of ascorbigen and 1'-methylascorbigen as model substances obtained by conventional TLC, Chrompres 10 and personal OPLC systems were compared by means of separation parameters. For the characterization of the personal OPLC instrument, the dependence of average plate height and resolution on the external pressure, as well as the variation of the average plate height with the eluent front velocity and development distance was examined using ascorbigen and I'-methylascorbigen as model compounds. The following analytical applications of the personal OPLC instrument were presenteddetermination of chemically labile bound formaldehyde, some betaines, ascorbigen, and some sugars from samples of plant origin, as well as determination of resveratrol from red wine. Our experiments prove that the personal OPLC instrument is easy to use, gives reproducible results and it is suitable for routine analytical measurements.
