Abstract

A practical and convenient method for the synthesis of 4-hydroxy- arylpiperidines, starting from bis-ketonic Mannich-bases (bis-[3-aryl-3- oxopropyl]-amines) in the presence of a commercially available non-activated 2:1 Mg:Al hydrotalcite, is described.
