Air pollution monitoring with LIDAR

Abstract

LIDARs (laser radars) can provide continuous long range information on the concentration distribution of air pollution compounds. This provides clear advantages over point sampling techniques. Operation and parameters of differential absorption LIDARs are described and characteristic features of the most important field-applicable systems are discussed.
