Abstract

The aggregation kinetics of silanized glass spheres were studied experimentally and via computer simulations. The rate of aggregation was found to be greater for particles with higher hydrophobicities. By comparing the results of the computer simulations with the experimental results, it can be proved that the long range capillary forces determined the rate of growth at the first stage of aggregation.
