Adsorption of primary amino compounds at platinum electrodes. A survey of radiotracer studies

Abstract

A survey is given on the radiotracer study of the adsorption of various amino compounds at platinum electrodes. Adsorption properties of amines (methylamine, butylamine, ethylenediamine), amino acids (glycine, alanine, γ-amino-butyric acid, and aspartic acid) and other amino compounds (taurine, ethanolamine) are discussed and compared. The role of the various functional groups in the overall adsorption behaviour is analysed. It is shown that in most cases the overall adsorption behaviour of a molecule is a resultant of the effects exerted by the different functional groups.
