Abstract

This review deals with the application of ionic liquids in the activation of small molecules such as dihydrogen, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide in various homogeneous catalytic reactions. The catalysts were restricted to transition metal catalysts containing phosphorus ligands (mainly phosphines).
