A tunable, highly monochromatic picosecond light source

Abstract

A picosecond excimer-laser pulse pumps two dye cells in a travelling wave arrangement. The amplified spontaneous emission output of the first cell after spectral filtering is injected into the second cell and amplified to a high-energy output pulse with a pulse width approaching that of the pump pulse and of narrow spectral band width.
