Abstract

Objectives: The authors discussed the changes in cell activity of the two important cell groups of cellular immunity (Killer and Natural Killer) after preoperative and curative irrradiation of patients with carcinoma of the uterine cervix. They measured the effect of radiotherapy on the activity of Kand NK cells associated with the dose of irradiation. Methods: They studied the effect of preoperative and curative radiotherapy to cellular immunity of 21 and 23 patients with cervical malignancy (FIGO stage I/b-II/a and II/b-III/a). The cytotoxic enzyme kinetics model was used to determine the maximal K and NK cell activity. Results and conclusions: They concluded that the activity of K and NK cells is independent of the dose of irradiation.
