This article attempts to explain the slow‐passage phenomenon in magnetic resonance from a somewhat unconventional perspective by providing a geometrical interpretation of the Bloch equations. The scope of these equations is also discussed by contrasting them with the spin‐locking experiment. This approach is intended to help newcomers reinforce their understanding of some of the basic principles of magnetic resonance, most notably with regard to the vector model. This presentation is especially useful for chemists, students of chemistry, and those who are more comfortable with a pictorial understanding of physical processes.
