A quick method to produce random dense arrangements of particles

Abstract

This paper introduces a novel constructive method for the preparation of random, geometrically isotropic, two-dimensional assemblies of contacting circular discs with a user-defined grain size distribution. The proposed approach is orders of magnitude faster than the currently applied dynamic sample preparation techniques.
