A note on a formula for the hyper-Wiener index of some trees

Abstract

The hyper-Wiener index R is an extension of the well known Wiener index. A formula allowing to calculate R for trees containing two branching points, the maximal degree of which is four, or for graphs containing one branching point the maximal degree of which is six, or for chains has been derived. It was shown that R is a polynomial consisting of 190 terms. The polynomial has been used to find structures (graphs) with equal values of R. A group of six structures all possessing the same R, was detected.
