A new homeotic mutation, SGA62, in Drosophila melanogaster

Abstract

A new, dominant homeotic mutation, SGA62, was recovered affecting the head capsule. In SGA62 flies the facettae, occiput and upper postorbita are transformed to genital and abdominal structures. The penetrance and expressivity of the mutation detected in the eye disc of SGA62 larvae. Genetic data indicate that SGA62 is not allelic with the tumorous head mutation which causes a similar type of homeotic transformation.
