A new heterogeneous solid-state copper(II)-selective electrode

Abstract

A new copper(II)-selective electrode based on copper sulphide in silicone rubber is described. Copper(II) ions in the range 10-1-10-12 M can be measured. Various anions have no effect on the response; the electrodes can be used for direct measurements in the pH range 2-6. The impedance of the electrodes is about 1.7 kOhm. The electrodes can also be used as indicator electrodes in potentiometric titrations of copper(II) with sulphide, thioacetamide and EDTA solutions.
