A cw dye laser tuned by an acousto-optic filter

Abstract

We have achieved rapid broadband tuning of a cw dye laser with the help of an acousto-optic filter inside the standing wave cavity. With Rhodamine 6G, the laser wavelength can be scanned over a range of 560-610 nm within 50 μs. The bandwidth is 0.3 nm (fwhm) while the output power reaches 150 mW.
