Fourth (T4), sixth (T6) and eight (T8) rank invariant tetrahedral tensor operators are used in the theoretical comparative description of the CH4 and CD4 rotational lines splitting. The results shows the importance of the eight rank tensor operators in such analyses for CH4 and underline the possibility to describe the CD4 case only with T4.
