The dose dependence of the deformation behaviour of copper irradiated by 233 MeV Ne ions is investigated. The irradiation experiments are carried out on an external beam of the U‐400 cyclotron. The yield stress rises monotonically from a fluence of 3 × 1014 ions cm−2, saturating at Θt ≈ 3 × 1015 ions cm−2. This saturation behaviour is described by a simple saturation model, which is based upon the assumption that the cluster concentration rate decreases with increasing fluence. It is assumed that this is caused by the interaction between the already existing clusters and the newly produced cascades. The changes of other parameters of the stress‐strain curve are also given.
