18 fs pulse generation by a single excimer-laser-pumped pulsed dye laser

Abstract

Continuum generation at three different pulse durations, 500 fs, 200 fs, and 30 fs has been tested. It was found that at longer pulse durations there is a smaller spectral spread, less modulation in the spectrum around the generation wavelength, and a more linear chirp associated with continuum generation process.
