10 Å continuous pressure tuning of a single-frequency distributed feedback dye laser

Abstract

Tuning of a distributed feedback dye laser is described using the pressure dependence of the refractive index of the solvents. The N2 laser pumped dye laser generates 80-100 ps long single pulses with 2 kW peak power and time-bandwidth product better than 0.6. Linear, free of mode-hopping tuning over more than 10 Å range was demonstrated using a 100 bar high-pressure dye cell.
